Below is a list of basic guidelines which should be followed by members and anonymous posters at all times. Remember, treating others is likely how you will find yourself treated in return.

Respect others and keep it clean
All users are given the privilege to post and to start their own discussions. However, this does not include the right or privilege to threaten, harass, stalk, or abuse other users. Flaming will be defined as a public attack or negative comment that is directed at a specific user or users with the intent or effect of causing them unnecessary harm or anguish. Such comments include, but are not limited to, those of bigotry, racism, or hatred. Swearing should also be kept to a minimum. An occasional slip will be tolerated, but when it becomes a problem, you will be notified and your post(s) removed.

Remember to keep debates on topic and do not insult other users. Debates should not be made personal. The same rules pertaining to flaming still apply.

Also please be courteous to other users and think about what you're posting before you actually post it. There are a wide variety of users here with a broad range of backgrounds, but everyone here is still a person sitting behind a keyboard with feelings of their own. This goes back to the above stated regarding personal attacks and discrimination.

Appropriate areas
Each area has a clearly written content de_script_ion. If after reading over these de_script_ions, you are still unsure of where your post should go, then place it in "Forum Lounge". Topics posted in the wrong area will be moved to the proper area, so if you find your topic suddenly disappears, please check the other forum areas.

Duplicate posting / spamming
There are two issues with duplicate posting. The first being that of a user posting a single thread (or post) multiple times, with the second issue being multiple threads being created that deal with the same or very similar discussions.

If you accidentally post multiple times, you have the ability to delete the additional posts. Please do so. This will help to keep from spawning multiple discussions on a single topic -- only one of which will be kept.

It is unnecessary to create an additional thread for a topic that is already being discussed. If you have something you wish to discuss, please take the time to check the first few pages to see if it has already been brought up recently. Should you find an existing thread, please take the discussion there.

Spamming will not be tolerated. Spamming will be loosely defined as posting off-topic messages within a thread, posting messages in incorrect areas (these will be moved as seen fit by moderators), the mass posting of messages, posting of large pictures, excessive use of smileys (whether it is to gain a higher post count or simply to be a nuisance -- do not do it), or the posting of the same message to multiple areas.

Community advertisement is to be kept to the appropriate forum – “Classified Ads".

Unnecessary bumping of a thread will result in that thread being closed. Unnecessary bumping will be loosely defined as bumping a thread that is currently within the first page or repeatedly bumping at close intervals.

Inappropriate content
Here you will find a brief, but not all-inclusive, list of content which is considered inappropriate and should not be posted:

• Sexually explicit material
The transmission of sexually explicit images or other content is not allowed.

• Harassment
Tasteless sexual remarks, remarks pertaining to ones nationality, or ones sexual preference with the deliberate or indeliberate effect of causing that person harm or anguish.

• Unlawful material
_link_s to, or posts containing unlawful material will be deleted. This includes, but is not limited to warez, cracking, phreaking, serials.

• Chain letters, pyramid, money, or referral schemes
The posting of chain letters and pyramid schemes of any kind will not be allowed. They are considered a nuisance by many, and in some cases may be illegal. Masked _link_s which attempt to gain referrals will be deleted and dealt with as necessary.

• Offensive / damaging _link_s
_link_s to "browser bombs" which spawn multiple windows or sites with offensive content.

• Impersonation
Attempting to impersonate another user or member of the staff will not be tolerated. Impersonation is no joke.

Post formatting
Do not use font colors that are difficult to read and / or uneasy on the eyes. Large fonts should also not be overused. Do not use excessive CAPS and never use aLtErNatInG cApS. Also, when posting a thread, do not use all or alternating CAPS in the subject line. "1337", symbols, and ASCII should not be used in excess.

Moderators
If for some reason you need to contact a moderator, feel free to contact them through the site-_base_d messaging system. Below is a list of the moderators, and a _link_ to their profile.

Outside the forums

The same guidelines apply to private messaging. If at any point you are harassed or otherwise approached via private messaging against any of the above guidelines, you are advised to contact and notify the site administrator, dune.
