TRIBUTE TO PCV's FORMALLY HOSTED PDF Print E-mail
        Lucio Laurel, Gloria - The Municipality of Gloria through the initiative of Mayor Romeo D. Alvarez and other municipal officials with the support of the department heads expressed their gratitude to Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) Adam and Beth Lebow during the farewell party, May 27, held at the house of the local chief executive in Barangay Lucio Laurel.
        Local leaders and staff whom the PCVs had close working relationship during their 2-year stay in the LGU shared their unforgettable experiences, program knowledge gained and personal moments with the PCVs.
        Recognizing the contributions of Adam and Beth, specifically in the areas of environment, water and sanitation, program barangays that were given technical and financial grant can continue working towards enhanced environmental integrity and sustainable development of their respective areas.
        The tribute which highlighted the Filipino culture like harana (serenade), tinikling dance (which they personally tried) and a mini-play performed by the selected municipal employees made it more memorable.
        Mayor Alvarez said that Glorianos cannot forget the sacrifices rendered by the PCV couple. They educated our fellow men regarding environmental concerns, like waste segregation, information dissemination, and water sanitation thru bio-sand filter introduction and how to take care of the ocean and the coastal areas.
        A plaque of appreciation awarded by the local chief executive served as a token of lasting and heartfelt gratitude to their endeavors and partake a community life.

                Kasabay ng pasinaya, binuksan na ang bagong pamilihang bayan ng Gloria, Setyember 4, 2008 na pinangunahan nina Gob. Arnan C. Panaligan, Congressman Alfonso Umali, Jr. at LBP Dept. Mgr. Marlon De Castro kasama sina Mayor Romeo D. Alvarez at Vice Mayor Loreto S. Perez. 
           Sinaksihan ito ng mga Bokal ng Lalawigan sa pangalawang distrito, mga Sangguniang Bayan Members, mga opisyales ng 27 barangay sa Gloria at mga kawani ng pamahalaang bayan.                          
           Lumahok din sa motorcade mula brgy. Bulaklakan hanggang brgy. Banus  ang mga stall holders, business sectors, mga trysikel drivers at iba’t-ibang samahan sa Gloria,  Isinagawa naman ang misa pagkatapos ng nasabing motorcade sa bulwagan ng pamilihang bayan sa pamamagitan ni Bishop. Warlito Cajandig, D.D. at  Father Rogelio Baluyot, Jr.    
          Nagpasalamat si Mayor Alvarez sa lahat ng dumalo sa nasabing okasyon. Inihandog din niya ang palengke sa mga mamamayan ng Gloria. Sinabi nitong “ Ito po ay hindi ko sariling proyekto, proyekto po natin ito. Proyekto po ito ng mamamayan ng Gloria.”.

         Tinanggap din ni Mayor Alvarez ang mga pagbati ng mga panauhin at pagsuporta sa kaniyang administrasyon. Sa harap ng publiko ay nangako naman ng ayuda na nagkakahalaga ng PhP 5,000,000.00 si Gob. Panaligan para makumpleto ang kabuuan ng palengke na gagamitin sa paglalagay ng drainage at landscaping nito. Ito ay matapos niyang basahin ang ilang bahagi ng sulat ni Mayor Alvarez na humihiling ng tulong sa punong lalawigan. Labis namang ikinagalak ng mga opisyales ng pamahalaang bayan, mga kapitan ng barangay at mamamayan ng Gloria sa naging kasagutan ng gobernador sa sulat ng punong bayan.

      Tinatayang P 20,000,000.00 ang ginugol ng pamalaang bayan sa pagpapagawa ng bagong palengke na ipinahiram ng Land Bank of the Philippines sa pamamagitan ni Dept. Mgr. Marlon De Castro at karagdagagang P5,000,000.00 mula sa pamahalaang bayan.  Nagkaisa naman ang mga bokal sa pangalawang Distritro na sina Ernesto E. Liwanag, Ramil O. Dimapilis at Romeo Buenaventura sa pagsasabing malaking hakbang tungo sa pag-unlad ang ginawa ng punong bayan.
     Nakigalak din sina 2nd District Congressman Alfonso Umali,Jr.,  Provincial Administrator Atty. Adel Abas at Or. Mindoro PCL Pres. Robert Concepcion sa pagdaraos  ng okasyon.
