Population

Gloria has a population of 38,901 (NSO,2007) which grew at the rate of 3.51 percent from 1990-1995. The tempo of urbanization is about 1.69 percent. The most populated barangays are Maligaya and the barangays located near the Poblacion as well as those along the National Highway. Household sizes are highest in Malayong, A. Bonifacio, and Kawit that ranges from 5.58 to 5.52 members per family. The total number of households is pegged at 8,831 based on the same NSO survey in 2007.

Growth Patterns

Gloria's population increased by about 94 percent from 1970 to 1995. From a 20,147 population in 1970, its population reached 35,771 in 1995. The rate of growth was consistently increasing from 1970 to 1980. A marked slowdown, however, was experienced from 1980-1990. In the 1990-1995 interval however, population growth showed a dramatic upward trend.

Population Movements

The growth pattern of the barangays was used to determine the inter-barangay and/or inter-municipality movement in Gloria. Between the two census periods, the barangays that exhibited remarkable increases of about 40 percent were Manguyang, Alma Villa, Malamig, and Maragooc. Barangay Manguyang exhibited the highest increase of about 74 percent. Given the rates of increase that these barangays have experienced, it is safe to assume that they were at that time, in-migration areas. Out-migration barangays during the same period was the remote barangay, Buong Lupa, which had a significant population loss of -9.65 percent during the period from 1990-1995.
