Health Status Indicators
Gloria’s population demonstrated an improved health status from 1996 to 1999. From 1997 when the crude birth rate (CBR), the crude death rate (CDR), and the infant mortality rate (IMR) increased sharply, the figures have otherwise steadied and continued to decline every year. The infant mortality rate exhibited an erratic pattern, while the maternal mortality (MMR) is zero except in 1997. The general health status of Gloria’s population is shown in Table 5.1
Gloria has proven to be successful in terms of strategic planning in food and nutrition. It has been a Municipal Green Banner Awardee of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) for three successive years: CY1997, 1998 and 1998. Table 5.5 lists the activities of the PPAN and Gloria’s accomplishments.
Health services are delivered to the communities and made available to everyone through health care activities at the hospital and health centers. The health services provided by the municipality to its populace are in Table 5.6 . Other programs of the Municipal Health Office are listed in Table 5.9 .
